Scrabble
Scrabble is a handsome tabby and white male cat born April 13, 2025. His story with Edgar & Ivy’s began when his mother was trapped with her newborn kittens and taken to animal control. We brought the little family into our care, where Scrabble and his siblings were able to grow up together in safety.
Scrabble found what we thought would be his forever home and spent almost an entire year with his family. Unfortunately, circumstances changed, and his family made the decision to return him to Edgar & Ivy’s.
After spending nearly his whole life in a home, coming back to the shelter has understandably been confusing for Scrabble. He is adjusting, but what he really needs is a second chance with someone who will give him the security of knowing that this time, he is home for good.

Astro came to Edgar & Ivy’s as a tiny newborn kitten with no mommy to care for him. He was completely dependent on people for everything he needed and was lovingly raised by one of our dedicated bottle feeders until he was big and strong enough to find a family of his own.
Astro was adopted as a kitten and spent the next year knowing the comfort of living in a home with his family. Recently, circumstances beyond his family’s control meant that Astro needed a safe place to stay, so he returned to the people who raised him at Edgar & Ivy’s.
Astro is currently not available for adoption because he is part of our Bridge Home project. Through this program, Edgar & Ivy’s provides temporary care for beloved cats whose families are experiencing a housing crisis or other difficult circumstances. Instead of forcing someone to permanently give up a pet they love, we provide their cat with a safe place to stay while they work toward stability.

Ladai
Ladai is a tiny tortie girl with a very big heart, born May 16, 2025. And when we say tiny, we really mean it. Ladai is exceptionally small for her age and will likely remain a very petite little cat throughout her life. Because she originally came to Edgar and Ivy as a tiny baby, we know her age and history, so her size isn't a matter of simply guessing that she is younger than she looks. It is possible that Ladai has a form of dwarfism, although she has not been formally diagnosed.
Ladai's story began when she was found outside all alone as a tiny kitten with no mommy to care for her. She came to Edgar and Ivy, where she was raised and grew into a loving, playful little girl.
Eventually, Ladai found what we thought would be her forever home. She was adopted and spent about three months with her family before circumstances changed and she was returned to us through absolutely no fault of her own.
Now this miniature little girl is getting another chance.

Jumper was discovered hiding beneath a vehicle with no mother or siblings anywhere to be found. We have no idea how this tiny kitten ended up there, whether he had wandered away from his family or somehow became separated from them. All we know is that he was frightened, vulnerable, and far too young to be facing the world on his own.
Thankfully, someone found him before something terrible happened.
Jumper was brought to Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary, where his life changed completely. Instead of hiding beneath a vehicle, surrounded by unfamiliar sounds and dangers, he was given a safe place to sleep, nutritious food, medical care, and people who would make sure he never had to face those frightening circumstances again.

With his sleek black coat, beautiful white chest, bright golden eyes, and handsome little face, this boy certainly has the regal appearance to live up to his name! He is a member of our Mythology Litter, a group of kittens whose lives nearly ended before they had even begun.
Zeus and his siblings were only two weeks old when a man arrived at the doors of Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary carrying the tiny, motherless babies.
What he told us was heartbreaking.
He said that if we did not take the kittens, he would throw them out into a field when he left.
These were helpless newborns who could not eat on their own, keep themselves warm, or survive without constant care. At just two weeks old, they depended entirely on someone to provide the nourishment and protection their mother would normally have given them.
Being abandoned in a field would almost certainly have been a death sentence.
We weren't given time to prepare or arrange for additional space. We were simply told that if we didn't accept these babies immediately, they would be discarded.
Of course, we took them.
Zeus and his siblings became part of the Edgar and Ivy family, and our team began the demanding process of bottle raising an entire litter of orphaned kittens.
Every few hours, day and night, these precious babies needed carefully prepared bottles, warmth, cleaning, and constant monitoring. There were sleepless nights, countless feedings, and weeks of dedicated care as we worked to give them the opportunity to grow up.
Slowly, the tiny kittens became stronger. Their little bodies developed, they learned to eat on their own, and eventually they were ready to graduate into our nursery.
The babies who had once been threatened with abandonment were now safe, healthy, and surrounded by people who believed their lives mattered.
Today, Zeus is a handsome young tuxedo kitten who has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is finally ready to find a loving family of his very own.
In Greek mythology, Zeus was the king of the gods, ruler of Mount Olympus. Our little Zeus may not command thunder and lightning, but we think he deserves to be treated like royalty for the rest of his life!

With her gorgeous mixture of black and golden markings, big expressive eyes, and delicate little face, this precious girl is looking for a very special family who will help her overcome the fear that has followed her since she was a baby.
Orchard and her sister Bramble were born outside to a very fearful community cat. Their mother had learned to survive by avoiding humans, and her kittens began life without the gentle handling and affection that help young kittens develop trust.
The sisters were eventually taken indoors, but they spent their early weeks isolated in a bathroom with very little human interaction. They were separated from their mother, whom they desperately missed, and never had the opportunity to become comfortable around people during those important early weeks of development.
When Orchard and Bramble arrived at Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary, they were absolutely terrified.
They hissed, hid, and did everything they could to avoid human contact. These weren't mean or aggressive kittens. They were frightened little babies who simply didn't understand that people could be kind.
Our team began working with them every day, offering gentle handling, affection, and reassurance while allowing them time to become comfortable.
Slowly, we began seeing progress.
Today, Orchard allows us to pet her, pick her up, and hold her. But even as she accepts our affection, we can feel her little heart racing. The fear she developed so early in life is still deeply ingrained, and learning to trust is going to take time.
We continue working with Orchard every day, but we also recognize that a busy animal shelter is not the ideal environment for a frightened kitten who needs patience, consistency, and individual attention.

We are hoping to find a quiet, loving indoor home with someone who understands that Orchard may not immediately behave like a typical outgoing kitten. Kermit is a handsome male tabby kitten born June 22, 2026. With his beautiful striped coat and precious little face, this sweet boy has overcome a very difficult beginning and is finally ready to find the loving family he deserves.
Kermit and his sister Miss Piggy were taken to a local animal control facility when they were only five weeks old. Both kittens were incredibly sick, and at such a young age, they were especially vulnerable to the serious illnesses affecting their tiny bodies.
When Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary learned about these two babies, we brought them into our critical care program, where our team immediately began working to save their lives.
Their recovery was long and difficult.
For an extended period, Kermit and Miss Piggy fought for their lives while our caregivers provided medical treatment, nutritional support, careful monitoring, and the constant attention that critically ill kittens require.
There were difficult days when their futures were uncertain. These weren't kittens who simply needed a few days of rest and medication. They were desperately sick babies who required a tremendous amount of time, dedication, and specialized care.
But we weren't willing to give up on them.

Thankfully, with time and dedicated care, Tweek grew stronger and eventually regained his health. Feline herpesvirus (FHV-1) is a common virus that causes upper respiratory infections in cats. Symptoms can include sneezing, nasal congestion, watery eyes, and eye inflammation. Cats infected with feline herpesvirus remain lifelong carriers, even after their symptoms have resolved. The virus can become active again during periods of stress or illness. Feline herpesvirus is species-specific. It cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs, but it can spread between cats. Vaccination helps protect other cats and significantly reduces the severity of illness, although vaccinated cats can still become infected. We provide additional educational information about feline herpesvirus in our adoption packets. Tweek has recovered from his illness and is ready to begin the next chapter of his life. His mange was treated, his skin healed, and he finally experienced what it meant to be safe. Despite everything he has endured, Cheesecake is a wonderful little boy who has learned to navigate the world in his own special way. His disability does not define him, and he doesn't know that he is any different from other cats! Cheesecake has been examined and cleared for adoption by a veterinarian. He does not currently require surgery or special medical treatment for his condition. He simply needs a loving indoor home with soft carpeting or other comfortable, nonslip surfaces to protect his legs and help him move around safely. With a little consideration for his mobility, Cheesecake can enjoy a happy, fulfilling life doing the things cats love. Cheesecake is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Alvin is a handsome ginger male kitten born July 1, 2026. With his beautiful orange coat, expressive eyes, and sweet little face, it is hard to imagine that this healthy, thriving boy once came dangerously close to losing his life. Alvin and his siblings were born outdoors at an apartment complex. For more than three days, residents kept hearing the desperate cries of tiny kittens somewhere outside. Their mother had disappeared, leaving her babies alone without food or the warmth and protection they desperately needed. By the time someone finally located them, the kittens were starving. At such a young age, going days without their mother's milk can quickly become fatal. Thankfully, Alvin and his siblings were rescued and brought to Edgar and Ivy's Cat Sanctuary, where our caregivers immediately began providing the nutrition, medical attention, and nurturing they needed to survive. These little babies had endured so much, but with dedicated care, they slowly began to regain their strength. Alvin proved to be a determined little survivor. The tiny, hungry kitten who once cried desperately for his missing mother has grown into a big, strong, beautiful ginger boy who has absolutely thrived in our care. Today, Alvin is healthy, happy, and ready to begin the next chapter of his life. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped and is officially ready for adoption. We are looking for a loving indoor home where Alvin will never again have to experience hunger, loneliness, or the dangers of living outdoors.
